New Patient FAQS
Your first appointment begins with a comprehensive consultation — we’ll explore your health
history, lifestyle, emotional patterns, and goals. You’ll also have the opportunity to receive your first acupuncture treatment, customized to your unique needs. Please allow 60 minutes for this visit. You’ll
leave feeling better than when you came in: relaxed, grounded and clear about your next steps.
2 hours before your visit, avoid alcohol or caffeine and instead drink water with electrolytes. Acupuncture works on your body’s bio-electricity and your treatment with be more beneficial if you are well-hydrated.
Eat a light meal or snack beforehand (avoid arriving on an empty stomach).
I provide organic Turkish towels as drapes for your treatment. Conversely, if you would rather not dress down, you may wear loose, comfortable clothing so that I can access arms, legs, and abdomen easily.
Healing is cumulative. While some patients feel relief right away, others need several sessions to achieve lasting results. Most patients begin with a series of 6–10 treatments (weekly or biweekly), then move into maintenance or seasonal care (once a month or once a quarter).
During your consultation I’ll outline a personalized treatment plan that fits your health goals and schedule. Often, I will recommend adjunctive at-home therapies so that you can maintain benefits gained from the acupuncture treatment itself. My aim is to ensure that you feel better after every acupuncture treatment. I'll often reassess your progress and make adjustments as needed.
I love treating a wide range of conditions with a focus on root-cause healing, optimal health, emotional wellness and longevity.
Common concerns include:
-Stress, anxiety, sleep issues
-Pain, migraines and arthritis
-Stroke and neuropathy
-Fertility and hormone balance
-Perimenopause and menopause
-Digestive issues, diabetes, and weight management
-Fatigue and immune deficiencies
-Cosmetic acupuncture, skin health, and microneedling
-Post-surgical and chemotherapy recovery
Each treatment is uniquely designed to restore harmony between body, mind, and spirit.
My acupuncture technique is very gentle and is generally painless and deeply relaxing. You may feel a light tingling, heaviness, warmth, or a gentle “energy wave” sensation this means your body is responding beautifully. A dull-ache or heavy sensation at the needle insertion area is actually a good thing! One of my favorite descriptions comes from an 80 year-old patient who said that he felt like he was floating!
Many patients fall asleep or enter a meditative state during treatment (what I like to call “acu-naps”). This is because your brainwave pattern drops into alpha; a state of deep relaxation and creativity.
To be more specific, I prefer the Japanese and Korean styles of acupuncture which are especially gentle. I aim to go “under the radar” of the central nervous system so that the body can stay relaxed and we can do our most effective work to achieve the best results for you.
Yes! Acupuncture safely complements most medical and wellness treatments. I personally love Western medicine and how it can treat emergency conditions and save lives! I have had an Integrative Western Medical doctor my whole life and I got to be an intern at the Oregon Health Sciences University for 6 months. I love the doctors there and their kindness and generosity shaped how I treat my patients today. Furthermore, I loved working in Chinese hospitals and seeing complicated conditions. Patients there came from all over the country and even brought their families along.
Many of my patients see me alongside their physician, chiropractor, or therapist to create an integrative care plan that accelerates healing and prevents relapse. I am all for it!
Yes. I often prescribe comprehensive herbal formulas and supplements that support your body’s natural rhythms — for example, stress recovery, hormone support, gut health, or immune balance. All of my products are professionally sourced, safe, and of the highest-quality.
I also created my own line of clean and effective skin and hair growth products as well as the very popular Purple Pain Relief Pills.
Pay attention to how your body feels — sometimes mild soreness or emotions arise as your energy resets.
• An easy walk, light exercise or continued rest is recommended to let your body integrate the treatment. Let your body lead the way.
• Jot down any changes in sleep, mood, or pain before your next visit — it helps us fine-tune your treatment plan.
Bonus:
To maintain your treatment benefit, oftentimes I will recommend these “tricks” to do right after:
-Walking in place with your eyes closed, or if you are more comfortable, walking backwards with your eyes open
-I may also give you homeopathic magnesium to aid with continued muscle relaxation
You can easily book online through the Contact or Appointments page on keahihealth.com, or
call/text the clinic directly. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide 24 hours’ notice.
As treatments progress, patients often experience:
• More consistent energy and better focus
• Balanced moods and emotional resilience
• Pain reduction and improved movement
• Hormonal and digestive regulation
• Deeper sleep, radiant skin, and glowing vitality
Many continue care seasonally to maintain harmony — like a reset for body and soul. Research
shows that the benefits of acupuncture can last 3-5 years!
